Sir Peter Westmacott

Former British Ambassador to the U.S., France and Turkey

Sir Peter Westmacott was British Ambassador to the United States from January 2012 until January 2016. He then spent a semester teaching and writing at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He was British Ambassador to France from 2007-2012 and to Turkey from 2002- 2006. His 43-year diplomatic career included four years in Iran before the 1979 revolution and a secondment to the European Commission in Brussels. He was the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Director Americas from 1997-2000 and Deputy Under Secretary of State for the Wider World from 2000-2001. From 1990-1993, he was Deputy Private Secretary to HRH The Prince of Wales. Peter was an Independent Non-Executive at EY from 2017-22 and Chair of Tikehau Capital UK from 2022-24. He is a non-executive director of We.Soda, Ciner Glass, Glasswall Holdings and Volex Plc. He is a Distinguished Ambassadorial Fellow at the Atlantic Council, a Senior Adviser at Chatham House, and the author of “They Call it Diplomacy - Forty Years of Representing Britain Abroad.

In the past 15 years, he has led Business Traveler Service functions in the UK and US to manage corporate and employee risk and compliance. He is a specialist in developing global governance structures, designing policy and communications, process operational management, and enabling technology to support the business traveller population. David has presented on business traveller and remote work risks and compliance at conferences including the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) in the US, The Business Travel Show (UK), and published in The US Journal of Taxation on Remote Work.

Miriam studied law in Leiden, specialising in tax, and began her career in tax law before transitioning to International Mobility in San Francisco. She later held legal and corporate roles at Towers Perrin, Philips, and Rolls-Royce.
Since joining NN Group in 2014, Miriam set up the corporate share plans and International Mobility department, supporting all NN locations, with a focus on optimising stakeholder experience, ensuring compliance and tax efficiency. Her expertise spans business travel, temporary working from abroad programmes, hiring foreign employees on local contracts, assignments (including virtual) and Employer of Record services.

Vanessa joined Philips in 2013, and has been part of the International Mobility team since 2015. She has been responsible for the design and global role out of the International Hire framework and has managed the expat and international hire population in Europe for 7 years. In May 2023 she took on the role of Head of International Mobility and together with a team of 9, they were globally responsible for the international mobility policies and processes of Philips. They managed the company’s expats worldwide, next to all international local hires, cross border commuters, international remote workers and business travellers.
